The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has won three international accolades at the Global Finance World’s Best Digital Bank & AI in Finance Awards 2026, reinforcing its position in Sri Lanka’s digital banking sector.
The Bank was named Best Consumer Digital Bank, Best Mobile Banking App and Most Innovative Digital Bank at the awards ceremony held at Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Singapore-based DBS Bank was named the World’s Best Digital Bank.
The awards recognise Commercial Bank’s performance in digital transformation, customer-focused technology and research and development, particularly through its Digital Banking Unit and IT Research and Development teams.
According to Global Finance, the winners were selected based on their strategies for attracting and serving digital customers, customer adoption and growth, the range of digital products, measurable benefits from digital initiatives, and the design and functionality of their websites and mobile platforms.
Global Finance founder and editorial director Joseph Giarraputo said banks were increasingly adopting artificial intelligence, automation and advanced data analytics to meet rising customer expectations for speed, personalisation and seamless digital services, while strengthening security and regulatory compliance.
The latest recognition places Sri Lanka’s digital banking capabilities on an international platform as financial institutions accelerate investment in technology to improve the efficiency, accessibility and security of their services.
Commercial Bank said the awards reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing digital services through innovation, functionality and security, while aligning its banking experience with international standards.
The latest accolades add to the Bank’s record of recognition by Global Finance, which named it Best Bank in Sri Lanka for the 24th time in 2026 under its World’s Best Banks awards.
Commercial Bank was the first Sri Lankan bank to exceed US$1 billion in market capitalisation and was ranked the country’s No. 1 bank in The Banker magazine’s Top 1000 World Banks ranking for 2026. It also has the highest capital base among Sri Lankan banks and operates more than 270 branches across the country.
Its international operations include 21 branches in Bangladesh, a majority stake in a fully-fledged Tier I bank in the Maldives, a microfinance company in Myanmar and a representative office at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Its subsidiaries, CBC Finance PLC and Commercial Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Limited, provide additional financial services.
The Bank’s three digital banking awards underscore the growing role of technology and innovation in strengthening competitiveness in Sri Lanka’s financial services industry
