The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen capital-market cooperation and connectivity between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement provides for the exchange of market expertise and greater collaboration in areas including electronic trading systems, exchange operations, technical infrastructure, market surveillance, clearing and post-trading services.
The two exchanges also plan to conduct joint conferences, seminars and educational programmes, while sharing expertise on new financial products, including exchange-traded funds and derivatives.
Discussions on the partnership were initiated by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the UAE, Prof. Arusha Cooray, during the CSE’s flagship ‘Invest Sri Lanka’ Investor Forum held in the UAE earlier this year.
A key area of potential cooperation is the CSE’s possible participation in Tabadul Hub, Abu Dhabi’s digital exchange network designed to facilitate cross-market access and trading connectivity among participating exchanges in the Middle East and other international markets.
Participation in the network could enhance international investor access to Sri Lanka’s capital market while providing Sri Lankan investors with greater connectivity to regional and global markets.
