The Colombo Bourse closed on a positive note today, with the ASPI gaining 50 points to close at 21,199, while the S&P SL20 advanced 13 points to close at 5,946.
The market maintained its upward momentum despite recording lower turnover compared to the previous two trading sessions, as continued foreign selling limited overall activity.
Overall investor participation continued to remain low during today’s session, continuing the same momentum from previous sessions. The main positive contributors to the ASPI were HNB, CARS, CINS, NDB, and TKYO. Daily turnover stood at LKR 1.1Bn, marking a decrease of 37.7% over the monthly average of LKR 1.7Bn.
Capital Goods sector led the daily turnover with a share of 29%, followed by the Banking, and Food Beverage & Tobacco sectors collectively contributing 36%. Foreign investors remained net sellers, posting a net outflow of LKR 188.6Mn.

01.07.2030 draws foreign buying amid stable yield curve
Investor sentiment remained mixed today, with the yield curve broadly unchanged as market participants continued to assess prevailing market conditions and traded selectively across the curve.
Trading activity was observed across several maturities, with the 15.09.2029, 15.10.2029, and 15.12.2029 all changing hands at 11.25%. The 01.07.2030 maturity stood out, attracting buying interest from foreign investors.
Meanwhile, 01.07.2037 maturity was also seen changing hands at 12.70%. On the external front, the LKR slightly depreciated against the USD, standing at LKR 336.42/USD, compared to LKR 336.35/USD seen earlier.
Overnight liquidity in the banking system contracted to LKR 156.54Bn from LKR 175.20Bn recorded previously.
