A high-powered delegation of Indian technology leaders, led by NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar, is in Colombo from 4–6 December 2025 to explore deeper partnerships with Sri Lanka’s IT and digital sectors. The visit, which includes NASSCOM’s executive offsite meeting, signals renewed confidence in Sri Lanka’s recovery and its potential as a regional technology hub.

The delegation participated in a high-level roundtable on 4 December, co-hosted by NASSCOM and the Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM). Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya welcomed the CEOs, acknowledging their continued support for Sri Lanka’s resilience and its tourism revival efforts. She encouraged Indian tech companies to consider Sri Lanka for expansion, citing longstanding cultural ties and growing opportunities in the country’s digital economy.

Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha highlighted India’s role as a “first responder” during Sri Lanka’s ongoing crisis and described the visit as a positive signal of normalisation and economic recovery.

Western Province Governor and Presidential Envoy for Foreign Investment Hanif Yusoof, along with Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, urged the visiting IT leaders to invest in Sri Lanka’s technology sector. Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Adviser to the President on Digital Economy, outlined the country’s readiness for accelerated digital transformation and invited Indian firms to partner in this transition.

NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar reaffirmed the Indian IT industry’s solidarity with Sri Lanka, noting its willingness to collaborate on innovation, digital capacity-building and AI-related skills development. NASSCOM Chairperson Sindhu Gangadharan extended an invitation to SLASSCOM to participate in India’s 2026 AI Impact Summit, aimed at shaping the Global South’s perspective on the future of AI-driven growth
